MADRID
The capital of Spain & one of Europe’s largest cities was founded by the Moors in the 9th Century. It is a modern, active city offering innumerable attractions to the visitor.
Magnificent architecture is everywhere & Madrid is home to many outstanding museums, including the ‘Big 3’ - the Prado, the Reina Sofia & the Thyssen-Bornemisza which rank amongst the world’s greatest. Madrid’s cuisine is famous worldwide – the superb & varied Tapas bars are a must – and no visit to Madrid would complete without experiencing the scintillating nightlife
A great idea is to go on one of our Tapas Tours of Madrid. The guide takes the visitor to different styles of bars to give an insight of the culture of Tapas, & don’t worry there is plenty of sampling with wines

CITY TOURS FROM MADRID  
MADRID is the perfect starting point for our tours to the magnificent & famous cities to the north.
Duration varies between 4 & 7 nights depending on the content of each tour, & includes accommodation, transport, meals & guide. The itinerary can also be done under your own travel arrangements, but the guide would not be included.
ALCALA DE HENARES Near Madrid, this town was the birthplace of Miguel de Cervantes, author of Don Quixote & is home to one of Spain’s most prestigious universities. Its rich monumental heritage is formed by churches, convents & university buildings & gives an insight into life in Castilla during Spain’s Golden Age.

AVILA Rises beneath the Gredos Mountains. Behind its long & high walls lies a historic collection of Renaissance churches, palaces & other beautiful buildings. They bear witness to Avila’s bygone splendour & power.

SALAMANCA A dynamic & welcoming city which has one of the oldest universities in Spain. At every turn discover beautiful monuments steeped in history & wisdom, medieval towers, plasteresque facades & Boroque reredoses in modernistic buildings
SEGOVIA Located on high ground between 2 rivers. Its multitude of medieval churches, the Cathedral, Alcazar fortress & Roman aqueduct make up a majestic landscape dominating the Castillian Lands
BURGOS The city was the capital of the unified kingdom of Castilla-Leon during the 10th to 15th centuries.
It still preserves many important vestiges of its medieval splendour, none more so than the World Heritage Cathedral. A few kilometres away is the prehistoric site of Atapuerca, also World Heritage acclaimed.

WINE TOURS FROM MADRID

SEVILLE
Heir to a rich Arab legacy, Seville was also a prosperous trading post with the Americas. Every street & square making up the historic quarter of this Andalucian capital bursts with joy & bustle. The area has a fabulous collection of historic buildings including the Alcazar, Giralda Tower & Cathedral, many of which have been declared World Heritage Sites, & also contains colourful districts such as Triana & La Macarena. Museums, art centres & theatres are only a few of the endless possibilities that a great city like Seville offers. Lastly, do not miss the terraces, pubs & bars where the deep rooted Tapeo tradition is carried out.

GRANADA
The last city conquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492 from the Moors, Granada has an unmistakeable Arab flavour. The Alhambra, Greenlife & Albacin were all declared World Heritage Sites. Moorish & Christian elements are seen in the incredible artistic & historic heritage.
CORDOBA
This ancient city, which is a World Heritage Site, is a living legacy to its diverse culture through history. It has been capital of the Hispania Ulbania under the Romans & also the Umayyad Caliphate of the Moors. A stroll through the historic quarter reveals beautiful streets, alleys, squares & courtyards arranged around the Mosque – the symbol of the city.

JEREZ
Renowned for its wines, horses & Flamenco, its centre has been declared an historic artistic site. One of Cadiz’s noblest towns, with splendid aristocratic houses & typical Andalusian houses. It is home to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Arts, the Andalusian Flamenco Centre & of course the world famous wine Sherry, which derives its name from Jerez .

Also of great interest are the towns of Ubeda & Baeza, both of which contain wonderful ancient buildings


GREEN SPAIN  
The north of Spain is in stark contrast to the sun baked regions to the south. Lush green valleys, wild flowing rivers, majestic mountains & wonderful coastlines await the traveller. Take time to enjoy the views, sample the superb cuisine & wander among outstanding historic locations.
VITORIA Founded in the 12th Century & now the capital of the Basque Country. A wonderful medieval centre slowly unfolds into mature suburbs, wide avenues, gardens & buildings reminding us of the grandeur & stateliness of Vitoria. An ideal starting point for visiting the world famous Rioja wine region.
SAN SEBASTIAN Also known as DONASTIA & one of the most attractive cities on the Cantabrian coast. Lying along the white, sandy La Concha Bay there is a blend of sea & mountains offering travellers landscape & sports as well as wonderful buildings in the Old Town. A superb city to sample the world famous Basque cuisine, San Sebastian has some of Spain’s most renowned restaurants
SANTANDER An elegant city extending over a wide bay, its historic quarter has majestic buildings set against the sea & mountains. Placed on the Pilgrims Route to Santiago De Campostela & the nearby Altamira caves, both declared World Heritage.
BILBAO Surrounded by a fertile landscape of forests, beaches, mountains & steep coasts, Bilbao is a great destination. Home the the famous Guggenheim Museum as well as other innovative architectural buildings. Art, fashion, music, leisure pursuits & food make Bilbao a vibrant city
